January 26-30

 Hello Parents!

Can you believe we're already in the last week of January?! For me this time has gone incredibly fast! As you know all too well, the weather has been quite chilly. When the real feel is below 20, we for sure will not be going outside. If you are just not sure if we will go outside or not, I suggest you send the snow pants, boots, gloves and hat just in case. I personally enjoy the winter weather, so I am not too afraid or reluctant to go outside most times. I will admit, however, that this recent weather is even too much for me. This coming week is supposed to be cold also.

Before I forget, we WILL be having a small Valentine's party. We will have our party on Thurs, Feb. 12th. The children will be exchanging Valentine's cards with one another. If you would like to send in some kind of small snack, I would not object, but that is definitely not mandatory. Also, you do not have to send in cards for the session that your child does not attend. In other words, if your child goes to school in the morning session, you do not have to send in cards for the afternoon children as well. The children that attend the morning session are Evelyn S., Evie C., Margot, Avanni, Lilly, Nora, Sylvie, Rosalie, Malachi, Conner and Andrew. The afternoon children include Londyn, Rosalee, Kai, Victor, Brady, Marvin, Elijah and Lachlan.

This coming week we will be learning about the letter "t." That means we will be talking about the trumpet and trombone and tambourine and turtles. We will also be learning about the number 10.

Spending another week talking about dinosaurs was fun. On Thursday we got to "crack" open some dinosaur eggs to find a dinosaur skeleton in the inside! (Thank you so much Mrs. Seibert for making those!!) We also decorated a paper egg from which a baby dinosaur could hatch. We tried to make a dinosaur using hearts, but it looked like a fish. The kids enjoyed it, but it was a flop in my eyes. Oh well. We hung those in the hall, so others could see our fish. Lol. We started to learn to sing with Laurie Berkner's song "We Are the Dinosaurs." (This is the second Laurie Berkner song we have learned. The first one was "I Know a Chicken." We will definitely be learning more songs by her. She is very fun.) We also got to get a book from the Book Mobile. It has been a long time since we were in school when the Book Mobile came to school. This comes only once a month.

Stay warm. It's cold here, but we can be more than grateful we don't live in South Dakota. There temperature is -23 with the real feel of -40! Everything is still open, and the schools in south eastern SD only had a 2 hour delay!! May God keep all of us warm. God bless you!
