February 2-6

Happy February! We've lived through another month of winter! Now we just have to make it through about another month and a half! We can do it! Our coming week should be much warmer, so please plan on sending your child with outdoor clothing as we WILL be going outside next week. Thank you so much for your cooperation. We so truly appreciate it!

This past week we looked at the letter "t," and turtle. We were pretty amazed at how small and how large some turtles can be! We also read the book "Those Terrible Toy-Breakers" by David McPhail. The kids really enjoyed that book. I did, also. But don't be surprised if your child insists that lions, tigers and elephants all live in the jungle. After all, that's what the book said! And if your child asks if they can set a trap, according to the book, that means that they want to did a big, deep hole under their bedroom window. We have also started to say the days of the week in Spanish. When saying the days of the week in Spanish, you always start with Monday. (In March, we will start saying the months of the year in Spanish.) We also had some fun painting yesterday. First we picked paint and Teacher put the paint on the table!! Then we put a big heart on top of the paint and then we twisted the heart around. Next we put blobs of paint on one side of a big heart. Then we  folded the heart in half and smooshed the paint. We liked that method the best. Finally, our Bible lesson was about Jesus raising Jairus' daughter from the dead. We learned that one of the reasons Jesus did that was to show the people present and us, too, that Jesus really is the Son of God and has all power. Because Jesus has all power, there isn't anything He can't do!

This coming week, we are not going to focus on a letter. Instead, we will be talking about and fitting puzzles. For children that are good, or a "natural" at fitting puzzles, they just seem to know what to do to be successful. To the rest of us who are not a "natural" at fitting puzzles, there are some skills that can be taught to help them. So that is what we will be doing: giving children some hints to build their puzzles skills. Hopefully they will be excited to fit a puzzle by the end of the week. :) We will also be looking at the numbers 1-10, and reviewing shapes.

May God give you warm blankets and warm memories this weekend.
