This week we are going to make up our missed days! Our missing Valentines Party and our missing dinosaur activities!
THERE IS NO SCHOOL MONDAY, FEBRUARY 17 AND TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 18!
On Wednesday, February 19th, we will have our missed Valentines Party, so please bring in your Valentines. We will play some games and deliver our Valentines. Bring your regular snack and drink- we'll send the candy home :) We will have baking soda hearts with vinegar and heart necklace making for our table activities and our Valentine Party after Bible story.
On Thursday, February 20th, we will have our missed dinosaur activities- our table activities will be melting a dino out of ice with salt water, regular water or sugar water to see what works best and dinosaur cookie cutter painting. For our small group activity, we will dig out a "fossil". We will get another chance to ride the big dinosaur too!
Bible Story- This week our Bible story is another miracle. We have been hearing about so many of the miracles that Jesus did. He changed water into wine, helped his disciples catch a huge amount of fish, healed a man who could not walk, stilled a storm, raised a little girl from the dead and this week we hear about him feeding over 5000 people with 2 fish and 5 loaves.
Many people followed Jesus as he taught and preached, healed and cured. Just before this particular account, Jesus had heard about John the Baptist's death. Needing some time to deal with this tragic news, Jesus withdrew by boat. The people from the surrounding towns walked out to meet him. Jesus had compassion on them and began to heal their sick and preached to them. When evening approached, Jesus' disciples encouraged him to send all the people home. There were at least 5000 men, not including women and children. Jesus challenged his disciples- "You feed them!" he said. They were not ready to do that! They didn't have enough and even a year's salary wouldn't be enough to buy food for all those people, not to mention, where would they get it? They were far from any town large enough to have supplies for this crowd. One of the disciples brought forth a young boy who had a lunch of 2 dried fish and 5 barley loaves, surely that wasn't enough.
Jesus had them brought to him. He raised them and blessed them and then he began to break them into pieces and pass them around. He continued to do this until all the people gathered had eaten their fill. He sent the disciples around with baskets to collect the leftovers and there were 12 baskets full!
With God there is no such thing as not enough. He has enough food, shelter, warmth and grace to cover us completely with plenty left over! May we never have a scarcity mindset when it comes to our God, with Him, our cup is full and overflowing with more than we could ever need. Plenty to share! Trust Him!
