Happy Thanksgiving!

This week we are talking about Thanksgiving! What happened on that first thanksgiving and how we can be thankful for everything God gives us!

Our KDI of the week is history- children understand past, present and future. We will talk about what happened in the past during the pilgrim era, what we do now in our families and what we can do in the future. Children don't have the same concept of time as we do as adults. We will work on their understanding and it will continue to build as they grow and experience time.

Table Activities- This week we will play with playdough turkeys, Thanksgiving pattern blocks, invite to create a paper turkey and play in a Thanksgiving sensory bin.

Small Group Activities- On Monday we will make name turkeys, on Tuesday, preschool AM will participate in the school wide Gobble Wobble, the PM class will also have their own Gobble Wobble fun!

Large Group- Some outside Thanksgiving play!

Books of the Week- "Oh, What a Thanksgiving!" by Steven Kroll and "'Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving" by Dav Pilkey.

Bible Story- This week is our last Old Testament story and it is the story of Job. Job was very blessed by God, he had many children and was very wealthy. He worshipped God faithfully. Satan came to God with the request to test Job. He was sure that Job only loved and worshipped God because he was so blessed. God agreed within limits.

All of Job's wealth was taken from him, his animals and servants killed and stolen, his children were all killed when the building they were in collapsed and then Job himself became ill, his body covered in painful sores.

Job was indeed tested. He had friends and a wife who gave him little comfort. He began to question God, asked if He knew what He was doing. How could all these bad things happen to him? He was a righteous man!

God answered Job back! Where was he when God created the earth and all that live on it? Who was he to question God?

Job repented and praised God in spite of all that was taken from him. He trusted fully, though shakily- "I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes - I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!"

No matter our earthly circumstances, we know that we have a champion who stands eternal and we, through faith, will stand and rule with him!! So thankful!
