Bible Story- This week we hear the account of the angels appearing to the shepherds right outside of Bethlehem. Outside of Bethlehem there were shepherds keeping watch over their flocks at night and an angel appeared to them. They were terrified!! The angel told them not to be afraid because they had wonderful news to share! The Savior was born!! Right there in the town of Bethlehem! They would know which one it was because He was in a stable, lying in a manger. And suddenly, there appeared thousands of angels in the sky, praising God and saying "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests!" Can you imagine??!! It is as if the curtain of heaven is drawn back and we get to see a glimpse of heaven on earth! Those shepherds were so blessed!! They left their flocks behind and went to see Jesus! When they had seen him, they spread the word that the Savior was here!! To everyone!! They couldn't keep it in. All who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
Are you amazed?? I have to confess, sometimes I am not. I've been saying and teaching the Christmas story for a long time now, it sometimes loses its shine. But if I set aside my daily routine, the things that distract and put myself in Bethlehem, read the words, imagine the shepherds and angels, I am amazed!! Amazed that my Savior would leave his heavenly throne and be born as a baby, born to live and die for me. He loves me that much! He loves you that much too! Amazing!
Pictures from our healthy food week- We each made a fruit/vegetable sculpture, but I didn't send it home, but took pictures of their creations-
