Bible Story- This week we will hear about the Wisemen's visit to our Savior, Jesus. We aren't quite sure how the wisemen knew to look for a special star. Perhaps Daniel shared it with their culture long ago, maybe the Queen of Sheba, who had a long conversation with King Solomon, shared it with her wisemen and it was passed down. All we know is that several men from the east saw a special star in the sky and decided to follow it. It took a long journey, but they arrived in Jerusalem, the capitol of Judea, thinking if there was a king, that's where he would be. Their arrival in Jerusalem was noticed and King Herod called them to see him. His wisemen shared that the king would be born in Bethlehem, a small village close to Jerusalem. Herod asked the wisemen to return to Jerusalem and share exactly where Jesus was. He didn't want to worship him, he wanted to get rid of him! The wisemen came to find Jesus, who was about one, and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. They were warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, so they returned home by a different route. What is so comforting to us is this shows how Jesus came for everyone, not just the Israelites. No one knows for sure where the wisemen came from, how many there were, how they knew. But the Bible tells us they came and they worshipped Jesus too! Shepherds, poor and lowly, wisemen, rich and great, all are welcome at the manger! Jesus came for everyone!
