Uu is for upside down.

This week, Uu is for upside down. We will listen and look for Uu and do some upside down activities!

The KDI for this week is Book Knowledge- Children demonstrate knowledge about books- we have time to look at books everyday- this week we look at a book that is read right side up and then flipped upside down and continues. Books are interactive in such a tangible way!

Take a look at this 4 year old's testimony!

Table Time- Table time activities this week include putting rubber bands on upside down chairs, upside down beading, build with upside down cups, draw upside down on paper, playing with sticky paper under the tables, dumping things upside down in the water table and coloring pictures from our story.

Small Group Activities-This week we will be drawing under the table, making an upside down journal entry, drawing a picture around an upside down picture of us :) and doing an upside down cup experiment.

Large Group Activities- We will have the opportunity to turn ourselves upside down on mats, pass bean bags with our feet instead of our hands, look through our legs to see the world upside down and play backwards outside.

Books of the Week-  "Round Trip" by Ann Jonas and "Silly Sally" by Audrey Wood.

Bible Time- This week we see Jesus at the Temple. After Jesus and his family flee to Egypt when he is a young child, they stay in Egypt until Herod dies. Then they travel back to their original home town of Nazareth. We don't hear anything about Jesus again until he is twelve years old, on his way to the temple in Jerusalem. Jesus and his parents went to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. They celebrated with family and friends. It was and is a goal to celebrate Passover in Jerusalem and in the temple! When the family had finished their celebration and was on the way home, Mary and Joseph realized that Jesus wasn't with them. They were traveling by foot with a large contingent of family and friends and had probably imagined that Jesus was with his cousins or neighbors during the long walk that day. By evening, when they had prepared a meal and expected his return, he was nowhere to be found and no one had seen him. Mary and Joseph began the day's walk back to Jerusalem and spent three days walking around the city until they found Jesus in the temple talking and asking and answering questions of the teachers. The teachers were amazed at his wisdom. Mary and Joseph were less so, they were worried and asked Jesus- "Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you!" Jesus gently reminded them who he was- God's son, he was in his Father's house.  What a difficult thing to do, be the mother of God. We are parents to God's children too, made so by adoption through faith into God's family of believers. Sometimes it is hard to hear our children point out to us when we are doing the wrong thing, when we loose our patience, use foul language, lie to get out of doing something we don't want to do. It's uncomfortable and as they get older, hopefully they will keep doing it in a respectful way. Jesus was about God's business, knowing what they world thought of the coming Messiah. I pray that our children will be about God's business too, sharing that Jesus came to be our brother and our Savior!

Have a terrific week!!
