Dd is for dinosaurs!

This week is Dd is for dinosaurs! We will look and listen for the letter Dd and learn about and play with dinosaurs!

Our KDI for the week is Gross Motor Skills- Children demonstrate strength, flexibility, balance and timing in using their large muscles. We will do some dinosaur movement!

Table Activities- Our table activities this week include making a dinosaur out of paper shapes, an invite to play dinosaur choice, dinosaur pattern blocks, playing with dinosaurs in different landscapes, dinosaut coloring pages, making dinosaur skeletons out of pasta and using sponges to print dinosaur footprints.

Small Group Activities-  This week we will go for a "dino dig", make vinegar and baking soda volcanoes among dinosaurs, add Dd is for dinosaur to our journal and make a fossil.

Large Group Activities- This week we will get to ride a dinosaur, stomp to "We Are the Dinosaurs", move to dino dice and try making dino prints of our own.

Books of the Week-  "Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs" and "Bones, Bones, Dinosaur Bones" both by Byron Barton and "We Love Dinosaurs" by Lucy Volpin are our stories this week.

Bible Time- This week our story is about the great catch of fish. Jesus had some followers or disciples that were fishermen by trade. Two sets of brothers, James and John, Andrew and Peter, both were interested in Jesus' teachings and often listened to him. The men had been out fishing all night, caught nothing and they were on the beach, cleaning and mending their nets when Jesus came. He had a large crowd following him and they began to crowd around him, so he asked if he could get into one of their boats to preach. They agreed and he got into Peter's boat. They went out a little way from shore so that the people could hear him and see him better. When he was done teaching, he asked Peter and the other boat to go out a little farther into the water. When they were where the water was deeper, he told them to put out their nets. Peter explained to Jesus- We were out fishing all night and caught nothing, but if you say so, we'll do it. They put out their nets and immediately caught so many fish that their nets began to break and their boats began to sink!!

Peter dropped to his knees and proclaimed, "Leave me alone, I am a wretched sinner!" All the disciples were amazed at the miracle of the huge catch of fish!! Jesus told Peter and the rest not to be afraid, they would become fishers of men!

Do we ever do what Peter did? Okay, God, this is what you want me to do? Are you sure? You know I've tried that before and it didn't work. Forgive my enemy, be kind to those who are horrible to you? I'll do it because you said to... Sometimes the results are more amazing that we can possibly imagine! Trust! God can and will do more than we can possibly ask or imagine!

Just a reminder that we will go outside everyday! So make sure to pack those snow pants, mittens or gloves and hats!! It is so good to get out and play in the fresh air!

May God richly bless you with an amazing week!

Some of our fun in the snow and our new bulletin board!
