Bible Story- This week we meet Jesus as an adult as he shows his God nature at a wedding in Cana. Jesus and his family and friends were present at a wedding feast. In those days, a wedding wasn't just a ceremony and reception, but a week long feast and party. Wedding guests were provided with lodging, clothing and food for a week long celebration. Everyone had to travel by foot or wagon to gather, so it made it a very special time. It was the custom to serve the best of everything first, the best food, best wine, best entertainment. As the week wore on, the accomodations and provisions became less impressive. Often people couldn't afford to keep up the quality, so things became more common and less ambitious as the days wore on. At the wedding Jesus and his friends were at, they ran out of wine. At that time also, water wasn't always clean and safe to drink, so a weak wine was a common beverage. This couple and their family would be embarrassed by the fact that there was nothing left to drink. Mary, Jesus' mother, alerted him to the problem. He acknowledged the issue, but said it wasn't yet time to act. Mary told the servants to do whatever Jesus told them to. After a while, Jesus instructed the servants to fill the large wine jars with water and then take a cup full of it to the master of the feast. The servants were nervous, but they did what Jesus asked them to. When the master of the feast tasted it, he was amazed. He told the bride and groom lthat he was surprised that they had saved the best wine for last instead of serving it first. Jesus not only gave them wine, but he gave them the best wine, in His time. Jesus gives us what we need, when we need it! Not just enough to get us by, but what is best for us. I have heard it said that God's answers to prayer are not yes or no, but yes or I've got something better for you. How comforting that is to know, God always has our best in mind. He called us by name, we are his creation and he loves us more than we can ever imagine!

Here's to filling our week with wonderful letters!
