Bible Story- This week we move to the New Testament and hear about the angel visiting Jesus' mother, Mary. Mary was a young woman who lived in the town of Nazareth in Galilee, the northern half of Israel. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph who was a carpenter in that same village.

An angel came to Mary, she was terrified! The angel told her not to be afraid and he brought her good news! She would be the mother of God's son! Mary wondered how that would happen, since she was not married. The angel told her that her son would come through the Holy Spirit. He told her about her cousin, Elizabeth, who though advanced in age, was now expecting a child! Mary submitted herself to the will of God.

When Joseph heard the news from her, he wasn't sure what had happened. He was not going to publicly shame her for infidelity and divorce her, but was going to divorce her quietly. An angel came to him in a dream and let him know that Mary was telling the truth and he should take her as his wife.

Mary went to visit her cousin Elizabeth who was carrying Jesus' cousin, John, who would later be known as John the Baptist. When Mary came to visit, the baby leaped with joy in his mother's womb!

We are all excited to meet Jesus!!
