Books of the Week- Our books of the week are "Chicka, Chicka , 1,2,3"  by Bill Martin, Jr. and Michael Sampson, "Ten Black Dots" by Donald Crews and "Mouse Count" by Ellen Stoll Walsh.

Bible Story- Our Bible Story for this week is the story of Jonah. Jonah was a prophet in the Old Testament. God gave Jonah the job to go to a city and preach repentance and judgement. He was to go to the city of Nineveh in Assyria and tell the people there that they needed to repent of their evil ways or God was going to destroy the city. He didn't want to. These people were God's enemies, why should he go and warn them? So, Jonah got on a boat headed the opposite direction, went down in the hold and fell fast asleep! As they were traveling a vicious storm came up. The sailors were panicking, they threw cargo overboard, they trimmed the sails, but the storm kept battering the ship and they were afraid they would drown. They woke Jonah up and drew straws to see who was to blame for the storm and Jonah drew the short straw. He admitted he was running from the Lord and told the sailors to throw him overboard. They were unsure, but they did it! Immediately, the sea calmed. Jonah was swallowed by a great fish. He spent three days praying inside the fish's belly and was finally thrown up on shore.

After that Jonah went to Nineveh! When he preached to them, they believed and repented!! How amazing! Even the king sat in ashes and ripped his clothes. Jonah, however, wasn't happy. He thought the city still deserved to be destroyed. God preached to Jonah as well. We don't really know for sure what happened to Jonah, but we do know that God's will is served when we tell others about Him and preach the good news! We know angels rejoice over one repentant sinner who goes to heaven and we should too!!
