Books of the Week- "What is a Scientist?" by Barbara Lehn and "Rosie Revere, Engineer" by Andrea Beaty are our books this week.

Bible Story- Our Bible story this week is the story of Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus was a short tax collector. He was so short that when Jesus was walking through his hometown of Jericho and Zacchaeus wanted to see him, he had to climb up a tree. Zacchaeus was interested in what Jesus had to say as were many other people.  Zacchaeus was sitting up in a tree waiting for Jesus to pass by. When Jesus got to the tree, he looked up, told Zacchaeus to come down and invited himself over to Zacchaeus' house! I am sure Zacchaeus was just as surprised as everyone else! Here he was a tax collector and Jesus was coming over to his house! He ran home to prepare and invited friends. Other people muttered and wondered if Jesus knew what kind of man Zacchaeus was- that was who Jesus had chosen to visit?? He's a rotten tax collector!! I'm a better person, nicer person than that. Jesus knew that Zacchaeus needed him. Zacchaeus stood up and asked to be forgiven for the sins he had committed. He confessed his faith in Jesus and promised to give half of everything he owned to the poor and if he cheated anyone, he would pay them back four times what he had cheated them out of. He showed true repentance!!

What would have happened if Jesus had just written him off? We don't know when the Holy Spirit will work to create faith in a sinner's heart. How can we say, enough? Maybe sometimes it is enough for us, but it is never enough for God. If there is someone who seems to be going down the wrong path, away from God. Pray for someone to reach out in love and grace to them, that the Holy Spirit might bring them home to God. Sometimes you might be the Jesus to their Zacchaeus.
