What are we interested in?

This week we only have one day of normal school and then our field trip to the Imagination Station in Toledo, OH. We are going to have activities on Monday that children have been drawn to.

Our KDI of the week is initiative- Children demonstrate initiative as they explore their world. Students get a choice to play after meeting time, they often plan to play with a certain toy or certain friend. Sometimes as preschoolers, they play just for a minute and then are on to something else. As teachers, we encourage them to stick with their plan for at least 5 minutes, giving them time to get involved with their play and build perseverance in play. It takes time and is sometimes a struggle, but it pays off in the end. Exercising their attention span gives it strength, just like exercising physically gives our muscles strength, our minds need exercise too!

Table Activities- This week we will have playdoh and painting as our table activities.

Small Group- We are going to be doing our small group outside and working cooperatively to create with glue and lots of choices to glue on our glue table- a large piece of cardboard laid on a table for kids to create on.

Large Group- Parachute cooperative play.

Books of the Day- "Edward Gets Messy" by Rita Meade and "Pete the Cat Rocking His School Shoes" by Eric Litwin and the poem "Little White Duck".

Bible Story- This day's Bible Story is the birth of Moses. Many years have passed since Joseph saved Egypt from the famine. Now there is a Pharaoh in charge who doesn't know Joseph or his family. The family of Jacob or Israel has greatly increased in size, now there are millions of them. The Pharaoh feels threatened by these foreign people in his land, so he makes them slaves. When that doesn't work to weaken them, he also makes a law that the baby boys born to the Israelites should be thrown into the River Nile by the Egyptian midwives who are attending them. There is one Israelite woman who doesn't want that to happen. Her name is Jochabed. She hides her pregnancy and then when she gives birth, she hides her baby boy in a closet. Eventually, the baby gets too big to hide, so she makes a little boat basket out of reeds and coats it with pitch. She takes the baby and puts him inside it and sends her daughter, Miriam, to watch what happens. The boat makes its way to where the princess of Egypt is bathing with her servants. She hears a cry coming from the basket and sends one of her servants out to see what is in the basket. When she sees it's a baby, she decides to keep it! Miriam is right there and she asks if the princess would like some help to take care of the baby and gets her mother. The princess names the baby Moses, which means drawn from the water. Moses is nursed and raised by his own mother until he is about 5 years old. Then he is brought back to the palace where he receives a prince's education. God is preparing Moses for the big job he has for him to do!  We can't imagine what God is preparing us for, but he is using our lives to show his glory and for giving us opportunity to love our neighbor. Turn stress into purpose and just know that you are being refined by your loving God!

Rock Week!
