Bible Story- Our Bible Story this week takes place several generations after Joseph saved the country of Egypt with his wise food stewardship. Now a Pharaoh is in charge who knows nothing of the Israelites except that they are growing fast and seem to be a threat to the Egyptians. This Pharaoh makes the Israelites slaves. He also tries to keep them from growing be instructing the Egyptian midwives to throw any male Israelite babies into the River Nile. One mother quietly rebels. She hides her pregnancy and  her son when he is born. When he is three months old, he gets too big to hide. She makes a little boat out of reeds and puts him in it. With his older sister watching, she puts him in the Nile, close to where the princess takes her bath. He floats down the river and begins to cry. The princess hears him and has one of her maids go and fetch the boat. When she sees the little baby, she decides to keep him. Miriam, Moses' sister goes to her and asks if she would like to have someone nurse and care for the baby. When the princess replies, "Yes!" she goes and gets her mother. Now Moses' mother is able to nurse and care for her baby until he is about 5 years old. She tells him about his people and then, Moses gets to go to the palace of Pharaoh to learn about the Egyptian government and religion. God is getting him ready to lead the people out of Egypt! God gets us ready for the things we may need to face in our lifetimes! He loves us and takes care of us, no matter what the situation in the outside world, he is by our side as we face its challenges!
